alright so a few of my friends have told me that i may have a bad lifter. when i start up my car there is a loud ticking noise and then when the car warms up it goes away. could this be because of a bad lifter or could it be an exhaust leak? or something else. i thought it was an exhaust leak but the thing is i just got a brand new full exhaust. just let me know if anyone has any answers for me thanx

Don't sweat it, you may have a lifter slightly lose but if it clicks a little at start up then stops that is nothing to worry about. Just a little millage will cause this.

well this could be a few things, but if exhaust was done and now you notice it, its probably loose bolts on the exhaust manifold and when they heat up they expand and seal. If it was happening before I would say it sounds like dry starts due to lack of oil or possibly loose rockers, shouldnt be hard to cure either way but I would venture to check these first.

Protree is correct but I would not sweat it unless you are a nitrous car or blown but no it should not cause it to miss or stutter. I know this may be a dumb question but #1 have you have the plug wires changed lately. Also what has been done to the car? Anything new?? Fill us in and I am sure there is many here much more knowledgable than I who can answer your question but I will give it a go...

i would seafoam the engine, if there are any exhaust leaks, they'll become apparent.

Dry startup could be the culprit. Cheap oil filters will allow it to run back into oilpan too.
isnt that the reason oil filters are almost always pointed down? to prevent dry startup?

no, that's not supposed to happen...

you've got an exhaust leak; i'd start by making sure your header bolts are tight.
then check if the flanges are cracking anywhere.
