I removed some tint once, and it left a funny checkered look on the glass, it looked sort of like the Mercedes/BMW you see driving around.

That might vary on the state. The Cop giving the ticket might cut you some slack if you pull it off then and there though. Looks like crap till you clean it all off, but a good sharp knife on an edge and pull, it will be off real quick. Act very sorry and appologize it might work. Btw use alot of soapy water, windex and soon to be gooey paper towels, or an sos pad and water. just dont drench your doors might not be good for wires. Wonder how I know about tint removal?:headscratch:

I had some extra tint and went balls ass crazy. It looked Awesome, but I wouldn't reccomend putting the 5% on the front windows. unless you always drive with the windows down. Not sure where the brain fart came from that told me that ohio repealed the tint law, and I didnt read up on it first, whoops. Atleast it only cost me the $ for the tint and not a ticket.

I have 5% tint all the way around and have never got in trouble...i live in indianapolis...it's free when you do it yourself...get a razor blade and some ammonia spray and take it off...i have done this on multiple cars...and it's not that hard....who wants to pay someone 100 to 175 to take tint off...def. not me.

ok - thanks guys. I'm going for the 35 and if i get in trouble, i'll take it off. I mean - how much could a tint ticket be anyway? I need 35% and on my black mustang with black leather / dash, it's going to look awesome.

EDIT - oh crap. Just thought about car inspections. I can totally see them not passing it b/c of the window tint. hmmmmm

Here in Indiana it's a $165.00 ticket and they will take a razor blade to it right there!

I dont know what kind of inspection you mean, the only required inspection i know of is an emissions inspection and they dont care about tint. As for taking off a tint, if someone else does it, around here its $75 to do it perfectly, i doubt the ticket is more then $40, my speeding ticket in which i was 20 mph+ over the speed limit was less then $200 and i walked out only having to pay $80 in court fees

I used to leave the side windows down when I went for inspection on my illegally dark tinted 300ZX and they never said anything.

Technically I don't think it's part of safety or emissions testing-just something a cop will ticket you for.

I got 35% on all my windows (except the front windshield) but had the driver and passanger side changed to 50% cause it was too dark for me. On a sunny day I felt like I was driving at night almost. It was weird to me.

wow...I got 10% on the front windows and 15% around the back and i would die without it. cant stand all that light, driving a car without tint is very very strange to me.

Tint removal

If you make a small slice in the top off the tint, than just use a fabric steamer too heat the tint up and peel. The tint comes off with the ****.

I've got 20% on every window but the front. It all depends on the officer. (btw, i am an officer and I don't ticket for tint

You really are not going to notice much of a different going from 50 to 35 don't get me wrong its darker but if your worried about tickets i wouldn't be. I worked at a tint shop a few years in high school, i personally run 15% up front and 5% in the back. I live in florida were our laws are 30 up front 15 in back never been pulled over for it and have talked to plenty of cops when i worked at the shop they would stop by to show us their new tint testing devices, the main bit i got out of talking with them is they aren't going to pull you over for your tint, but if your driving like an idiot that is something they can use to pull you over and give you a ticket even if they didn't get you speeding.

And for everyone with illegal tint don't be stupid if you get pulled over, roll the windows down before the cop walks up.
