How much horsepower estimated at the wheels?

1903 Views 13 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  Quan Cheese
Alright, so im looking into getting my car dynoed just to see some numbers and wanted to see some estimated numbers you guys may estimate. My car is a 2007 mustang GT/CS which were advertised to give 300 hp and 320 lbs/ft of torque.
my car so far has a set of bbk long tube headers and an off road x pipe, has the factory mufflers still from american muscle. A bbk cold air intake (from american muscle) and my car also has an sct sf3/x3 tuner from american muscle and is currently running a race 91 octane tune. how much horsepower would anyone expect my car to put to the wheels? thank you all for any input i greatly appreciate it

with all those mods, probably around 280-300 rwhp

remember the 300 number your giving stock, is at the crank. Add in drive train loss stock it only pushes like 250-260 something like that.
yes typically they lose about 10-15 percent throughout the drive train to the wheels. so about 10% of 300 is 30, 15% of 300 is 45 so say it loses 30 horsepower then im at 270 at the wheels plus all the mods that i have done how much would i probably have?
if it loses 15% then that would be 255 Hp at my wheels. but i doubt it would be 15% loss considering i keep my car in top shape i.e. full synthetic castrol motor oil, and i think my tranny and rear end also has synthetic fluid too, i just serviced the whole thing less that 8 thousand miles ago, the engine just got service less than 200 miles ago.

Mr07GTCS,

A Car looses 10-15% regardless. That's just the drive train loss from the engine to the wheels! So your stock GT would lay down somewhere from 250-260 RWHP. With the mods you have now you're most likely right around 300RWHP. Depending on the weather and type of Dyno will also play a factor!

I hope this helps, definitely let us know how you do!

Your car an auto or manual ? If it's a manual, I put you right about 310 rwhp. But really it would be nice to have had a baseline. Some cars are stronger and some are weaker than the advertised.
yes its the 5 speed manual.
Yep, and the different major brand dyno's can be up to like 20-30 hp off from each other.
well what kind of dynos are there? like which are the better kinds to go to? ive heard of those where they remove the wheels and connect the car to the dyno through the lugs. MY buddies 2000 camaro ss put down 340 rwhp with a set of long tube headers a off road y pipe and a dyno tune

Just use a dynojet. And as far as the camaro goes, that's a totally different engine. Many engines respond different to different mods.
well yea i know that lol but i just thought i would bring that up. what about the torque numbers? any ideas?

Mr07GTCS,

Yeah, your buddies sounds about right as well. The LS1 Camaros will put down low to mid 300 wheel with bolt ons. Your car will most likely be right around 305-310RWHP and 315-320RWTQ with your mods. The long tubes are really going to help you in the torque department.

We do all of our testing on our in-house Dynojet 224xLC. I hope this helps, let me know if you have any questions!
