In the neighborhood of 300-325 and then it's a quick downhill dive. If you're rebuilding it, do it right the first time, especially if it's going behind that 347 you have. But a properly modded AOD can handle some serious power.
A buddy of mine is considering upgrading his AOD when he puts a 100hp dry nos kit. I told him that they probably only handled about what a T-5 would handle.
Like EagleAutosports said, a modded AOD can handle a lot of power, even a stock AOD is pretty strong compared to other stock automatics out there.
I beat the crap out of my stock AOD autocrossing every other weekend for the last few years and it's held up fine. My car is mostly stock though, but I installed a tranny cooler and change the fluid every 6 to 8 months just to be safe.
