How stupid am I

So today i went to swap out my coil pack. Easy job naturally some one was touching my freaking tools so I used a screwdriver ratchet. of course to remove the top tight screw i need a ratchet since the screwdriver isnt deep enough. Instead of getting mad and aksing my household who was touching my crap, i figured I will take a 3 minute drive buy an adapter for 3-4 bucks.

So here is wear it goes bad. i hooked up the new coil pack to test it works. When trying to manipulate top right screw the plastic broke no biggie. This is when i decided to to just go buy a ratchet adapter. Since I was annoyed and in a rush once the old coil pack broke off I placed it on the battery. Yes I am Idiot I closed the hood and now I can't open it. it seems the passenger side is closed but I can see a huge gap on driver side since old coil pack is on the battery. If I pull trunk release nothing happens.

Any sugesstions to open the hood? should be a fun day tomorrow

I've done that before...shut the hood with something laying where it shouldn't be. I had to have someone pull the release while I was basically jumping up and down(figuratively speaking) on the hood to allow the catch to release. I don't know if it was the right thing to do, but it worked.... And luckily, my hood wasn't warped after that. I'm not sure if there is a better way to do it or not, I'm sure there is. Just sharing my experience with you, letting you know you're not alone
I also did this to my hood, I just had to yank my release as physically hard as i possibly could.
Ah, the joys of working on your own car. There is always something goofy that happens...something falls into a place that makes it next to impossible to retrieve, leaving stuff under the hood, forgetting to hook up a vacuum hose, shocking yourself on the battery, etc.

Makes life interesting, doesn't it?

Hahahahaha yep, I got the hood open, it now opens and closes but doesn't lock in place and pops up a little when driving. I tied it down with metal string for now. i rather have it not lock and open than being jammed. On the plus side she drives like a champ with the new coil pack.
time for hood pins :)

Heh, I thought that this initial thread was gonna have something like "you know what? I was working on the coil pack and then I put something across the battery and got zapped" or something.

One time on another car that i'd owned, i'd left the coolant reservoir cap on top of the reservoir and slammed down the hood, and I knew right away (just like when you lock your keys in the car) what happened. The hood, consequently had a small bulge. Thankfully the car was pretty beat up anyways, but hindsight is 20/20, as they say....

lol besides, you push the trunk release button
or you use the keys from your back pocket because you dont want to walk over/ stretch over to the passenger side of the mustang...:D

you might be able to pull the cable more by reaching from under the car a hand tool
