How to fix leather trim...

1634 Views 3 Replies 2 Participants Last post by  CrashedStang06
Would anyone know a clean way to repair the leather trim on the Premium models located on the side of the doors? It's popping out now!!!! It looks like it was just stuffed in there. However, when I try to put it back in it pops back out. Do they use glue to hold these in, and if so, what is good to use without it seeping through the perforations in the leather?

contact cement is used for alot of trim, like headliners ect. you can spray or brush it on lightly,to both surfaces, allow it to try to the touch before sticking it together. be carefull, you dont get a second chance to stick it together. once its stuck in place apply some pressure to the entire area. be very neat with the stuff so you dont have any clean up on surfaces of the door. brush on will be way neater.
just a second note. if youve never done anything like that, tape off anywhere you dont want glue, going into a small groove, use a small artist brush( and tape off around it) and go very lightly on the perforated surfaces. take your time and be very neat about it. maybe someone will chime in with a different method :)
Damn I'm an idiot!!! I just used adhesive trim and it worked perfect. I did use your technique and it worked great w/o any overspills. I need to stop thinking too much about simple things!!! Thanks for the great advice!!!
