What's your budget, and what's your goal?

How fast is fast enough, and how much are you willing to spend to get there?
I have a 2002 v-6 mustang that i race at the track finally broke into the 16's I AM SO PUMPED i have everything stock except spark plugs and a cold air intake. Think i am going to get a performance chip though
chips are one of the best ways to go i was going to get one but i just got a ticket and now i have to wait till i get payed again.:(

Are you a member of the Coloradostangs.com ?
just add a cold air intake and a good cat back system
s/c

supercharg it i was on youtube some guy has his v6 up to 611 rwp thats faster than a shelby..!!!!! and just a supercharger will give 300-340 horse power which will beat a gt mustang. go to this site they have a good one for 4000 www.rpmoutlet.com/musv6ati.htm

300 at the crank maybe. In order to break 300 with a super charger I'm pretty sure you need ported heads, cam, and ported upper and lower intake. Please someone correct me if I'm wrong though.

You're answering a 3 1/2 year old thread...... Would like to see the 611rwhp supercharger video. There is nothing that we know exists over 600rwhp with a SC unless it was a Nascar 4.5 SVO.....

Have you ordered anything from RPM Outlet? They have lousy customer service and some people have waited for months for their products......
True ^^^^ I waited for 2 and a half months for my TB spacer from them. I could have saved my money and taken the girl out a night or two with that money i wasted. That TB spacer sure is one expensive paperweight! But that is for another thread...

That on a 1/2 mile track? cause I looked up 1/4 mile track times for STOCK 2002 v6s cause my coworker has a 2JZ supra and wanted to race me... my car stock was .5 seconds slower according to the sites I went to... and the time was 13.9 averaged
Stock V6's don't run 13.9...... You'll have to trust me on that.......

well I am against raising threads this old, or even posting in them...... but your misinformation has compelled me too. No stock or even slightly remotely stock V6 is going to run a 13.9 in the 1/4th
I know cuz not even a gt that has 70hp more can do that...:nono:
rfcsoulja-You can get past 300 crank hp with a supercharger without doing any major engine work. Doing the extra work that you listed would probably get you close to 400hp or more.

Big Daddy- Stock GT's have been known to get into the 13.9 zone. Their is a guy on another forum that I am part of who got a 13.7 stock. It is uncommon but not impossible.

Now I know.:bigthumbsup How high of a boost would you have to run to get 300 w/ just a supercharger? Can it be done safely w/ stock internals?
how much horsepower can you gain by porting and polishing just the intake manifold? ive heard around 30 but im not sure:scratchchin
It depends on what type of supercharger you have. Generally 300hp with a roots type supercharger is hard on your internals, 300hp with a centri unit however is much easier on your internals.

P/P the intakes may get you 10hp, a lot of people have been suggesting getting the lower intake ported and then the Windstar upper, that should give aroun 15-20hp depending on what is done to the car.. Not 30hp though...
Don't forget about porting the heads and adding larger valves for increased flow. It will not necessarily increase your hp a ton, but it will react very well with forced induction. My son had his motor built by Tom at Supersix. Once it was broken in, it only pulled 175rwhp. He was upset, but we explained to him that we spec'd the motor to handle a power adder, not to make a ton of power N/A. Once he added boost, his numbers jumped dramatically, and it is a very stout motor......

This is the same scenario. Make your mods compliment what your final goal is, and beware of the downward spiral of modding......
my stock v6 ran a 14.9 the other day..16's seem slow
