I have a 88 mustang hatchback and i have freshly rebuilt the motor only mods are cam, pistons, rods whole motor is balanced everything is stock. I dont know where to go from here? Car runs great and strong i just want it faster. My goal is to break into the 11's without breaking my bank. If any of you guys have a cheap way to do this let me know. I dont want something that i have to worry about blowing up I would like it to still be reliable thanks!

Unfortunately 11's don't come cheap. You'll need an equal amount of money just in suspension/chassis stuff as you will in the motor and drivetrain to do it right. It's amazing what some people put in just to get into 12's!

Some might argue but you won't be getting there easy on a naturally aspirated 302. You'll either need a power adder or a bigger displacement engine and some serious weight reduction. Either way you'll be looking at a realistic $4 - 8k before suspension even comes in the picture:bigthumbsup

The cheapest way to go faster is to lose weight. Assuming you want to keep the interior of your car intact etc., you'll need roughly 350-400rwhp to get into the 11's with a stock weight fox body. A good heads, cam, and intake package along with 100-150 shot or 8-12lbs of boost via turbo or supercharger will get you there. Of course you'll need exhaust, gears, a good trans, and all the typical supporting mods as well :bigthumbsup

To get into the 11's your going to need some good suspension work. Losing weight is a good mod, it free and works. Your going to need some horsepower but not 400 rwhp more along the lines of 300. And last but not least your going to know how to drive that bad boy as the "Driver Mod" is the most important.:bigthumbsup

You'll have as much money in the suspension as you'll have under the hood. It takes more than just power to get 11s, you have to get that power to the ground.

Actually, a naturally aspirated 302 can make 11s, it just won't have any street manners or be very practical for a daily driver. It'd have a radical cam, monster heads, etc.

Don't forget about your transmission either, upgrades to it will cost some dough too.

The words "cheap" and "11s" do not mix, so you have to decide what word you'll side with.
Cheap: won't get 11s.
11s: you WILL spend more dough than you think.
