I have a quick question, 1992 Ranger with engine swap, what is it?

I was looking at a 92 LX 4 banger. Well, when I popped the hood, it wasn't a 4 banger. Somebody did a motor swap, but I don't think it is a 5.0 either. The motor is a V8 with a kinda small upper intake, and two seperate coil packs. There is four on one and four on the other. Coil pack #2 behind #1 is sunken down further then #1. I don't think it could be a 5.0 but I might be wrong. The VIN is a M code, which I know is a 4 banger code.

Anybody have any insight?

no, sorry for the title, i dunno whats with the ranger stuff.

The coil packs look like the v6 coil packs but it has 2 of them with four on each.

plus the check engine light is on, but i think its because of the swap
