Plans for my car are coming together. My car has been broke since March of last year. After a blown turbo seal and blowing oil out of the exhaust, turns out the motor spun a bearing.

So while the motor is apart I figured I'd upgrade a few things.

I'll be going with an RGR built 322ci Stroker Block, with custom coated CP pistons, Manley H beam rods, kellog stroker crank and race rings. My stage 3 livernois heads will be upgraded with comp stage 4 turbo cams. I also upgraded the turbo from a 67mm to a 76mm after the seal blew.

Currently a 8pt bar is being installed.

In my garage I have a set of Bogarts, ET Streets and Drags, BMR K, and will order the BMR Launch control bar.

I just got a figure out how to get the cash for a FB performance trans.

Maybe I will be ready for the last track day of the season. :headscratch: My goal is to run mid 10s on low boost.

Hope my wife doesn't see this thread.

Thanks to JPC, Insane Racing, and Rich Groh for helping with my build.

Keep us apprised on how your doing. But not driving your car since last Mar. Wow. :scratchchin
Yep its been very hard.
I think you need to get a 09' on clearance, add a axle back, gears, cold air kit and tune to have as a DD:bigthumbsup

And if your "big build" of the other car has gone as they normaly do you probably have some pretty nice odds and ends you can't/are not using anymore to bolt on the DD
Fantastic. I'll be happy if I can just get mine back on the highway. If I end up needing an engine, I've been looking at McKeown Motorsport Engineering, Inc.

I'm thinking about getting a used v6 vert.

I know that shop, a friend of mine from Brandywine used them for his 347 build. Car is very strong.

Something nice and slow would be good! :D
Good luck with the build!!

And what's this "season" you speak of? We only shut down the track for 2 weeks at Christmas and New Years around here!!

Oh, and you may want to look into double caliper rear brakes. Your going to need them it sounds like!:bigthumbsup

Lucky you, Our tracks get shut down from end of Nov till March.

I was looking at the strange dual rear brakes, but CK reported that he had to do allot of fabrication to get them to work.

Hey V6s are the best bracket cars.

You might ask him to quantify " allot of fabrication". I know I had to shim my rear Aerospace brakes because of the 9" ends but that's about it (other then they shipped the wrong peice twice:laugh:). I can't see why it would take too much to install them. Heck, that's what I have on my coupe and Richard has Aerospace on his SSO car. The only thing I can see being a possible issue is the bracket and that's if you're running 9" ends. I'm not taking anything away from Ck (Man's gone 9.60 already) I just know sometimes things become a major process for him.

You're going to need them to get that thing to spool before you ever get on the Transbrake or it's not going to leave real well.
I guess I'll pick them up. The price on them isn't bad at all. For the classes I want to run in I can't even use a TB, so the brakes will have to do.

Darn if you're going to Footbrake that car you BETTER get double caliper rear brakes!!:gringreen
The aerospace setup for the 8.8 axles with C clips will work with s197s? There is no specific part for just the s197 on the aerospace website.

You can get single Caliper set ups for the S197. I have the 9" ends and had to do a little shimming (Minor, couple of washers). The 9" ends with the ABS still in place will take any brake a regular 8.8 axle will.

However, I would NOT recommend them for a Turbo car. You need to get on that footbrake pretty hard to spool that car on the line. You really need Dual Calipers and Aerospace does not make a dual caliper set up for the S197 to my knowledge.

Honestly if Strange had made a complete kit for the S197 (front and rear) I would have gotten them instead, either that or Lamb. However, when I did mine Aerospace was the only one making anything.

Great company to deal with. Our 4r70w is their model 4stb-e. Our car has been down since last November, so know how you feel and now the wicked heat/humidity is kicking in...so no real hurry to get back to the strip until October. Still...motor going back in with reworked heads this month...who knows?

What upgrades did you get with the FB tranny? Did you get a single disk converter or dual disk? Are you using there wide gear set or the stock set?
What upgrades did you get with the FB tranny?
Came with full manual valve-body, transbrake, electronic overdrive. Recently had them refresh and upgrade to dual disk and some other stuff (too technical for me). Now rated at about 1100 crank hp.

Since car was pulled from street duty a month ago, we are considering changing to the AO3, since we no longer need the overdrive capability. We are hesistant to change though as this transmission has been flawless. Whatever we decide, we're staying with FB.

Give Mike a call at FB...say you spoke to steven from Houma, Louisiana...he can tell much more about our transmission and the upgrades.
Thanks, I think I'm going to model my trans off your setup.

What rear gear are you running. I'm thinking about moving from a 4:10 to a 3:27 or 3:55 with 28in tires.
