I have a 91 Mustang Saleen 5.0 that hasn't been driven in 5 years. The car has power as I replaced the battery today brand new. I turn the key and hear the fuel pump (sounds like a humming noise in the RT quater panel/rear of the car) but the car doesn't start/ignite/turnover. Headlights work, turn signals, brake lights, etc. I have moderate mechanical knowledge but have no idea where to start. Any advise on where to start first would be appreciated.

Siphon the fuel?
Check the coil?...... I really don't know where to start.

Thanks!

First I would drain the tank, you don't need any of that sludge getting to your injectors. Change your fluids, tires that are most likely dry rotted and go through the brake system. In my first tank of fuel I would dump some injector cleaner.

Sounds like a no crank issue.
I'd start tracing the starter circuit. Could be a bad starter solenoid/starter motor, but make sure it's sending power there first...

Are you sure the engine is free and not stuck from sitting ?

Make sure it's in park.

Look at the starter relay, is the little wire on the center terminal pluged on?

do you here the starter make a "clunk"? the starter may be shot.

also make sure the electrical part of the ignition switch hasn't started to come apart

good luck!
