Ok so I just recently put my 351w together (top end). This is a first for me but I have spent hours researching. Everything seemed to go smooth until I installed the timing chain. I have a comp timing chain with the 3 key slots. I installed the top timing gear where the dot is at 6 o clock, and the lower dot on the crank gear is at 12 o clock. Ok so it seems to be at TDC but when I turn the motor over neither the intake or exhaust valve move on the #1 cylinder until one complete revolution. Shouldn't the rocker arm on the #1 cylinder move? Please help because this has really been a headache. Thanks!!!

Sounds like the chain & gears are on right. I've used a cardboard damm to keep oil from slinging everywhere & do a quick test fire. Without a longer stroke your probably 10:1 maybe 10:5 w/ flat tops.:bigthumbsup

Put it together & let it eat!:bigthumbsupThe 1st crank revolution is the intake stroke & the second the exhaust so it sounds right.
