I just started to rebuild my 1989 5.0 mustang and the more things I replace the more things I find I can and what to replace. Man I never thought it would get this bad. There's just so many things that can be done. From chrome items to different interior. Well at least I'm having fun. Thanks to everyone for your post it has helped me out a lot. I will post pics when I'm done ( if I ever get done )

Projects like this are NEVER truly "done". By the time you go through the whole car, the thing you changed first will be ready for an upgrade. Then you can change the paint scheme... different engine parts... gotta try a different rear gear... how about a tranny upgrade... experiment with un-natural aspiration... you won't ever be 100% done with it.

It's a sickness, you've got it and there is no cure. Might as well just accept it. At least you've got lots of company.

I don't even bother saying "after this I'm done" anymore. Who am I kidding? I don't believe it and neither does my wife. I'll probably be pouring money into the car till the day I die.

My old lady doesn't understand the obsession. Hell, I don't know if I really understand it myself. All I know is that about every other day, there is something else I want to add to it. From interior to engine. I wonder if mine will ever really be done. Bad thing is I WANT to do it all now, but knowing that I will have her for a long, long time, I keep telling myself it is better to just take my time, and extend the experiance.

I've had mine since 1990 and have been adding to it since 1991 so for me, it's 17 years. "it's done" will last until the newness of the last part you bought wears off, and you need a fix...

Man isn't all these posts the truth. I am really bad since I float between cars. I mod something and wait to see what else breaks after the mod and then move onto the next car and do something there. Wait until you start competitive racing... Street cars are one thing but race cars are a whole other addiction.. breakage, better 60's, better trap, that one never ends.

My best advice is try to find a photo of what you are trying to build. Make a physical plan on paper and when you are there just maintain it and get another car to start all over again. This should help you avoid the $30K investment to a car that is worth $10K.

slurp, slurp, slurp

Everytime I stare at my 91GT I begin drooling uncontrollably. My wife has gotten me a new bib for this problem. If I were in the middle of the street I probably would get run over. I swear to God this car has added 10 years to my life! I didn't understand what it is about this car but the first time I shifted into third and punched it, I was terrified yet hooked on the rush, but that is where the obsession began...

At first my wife thought there was somthing wrong with me.Than I took her to her first Mustang club event. After meeting some of the other members she realized there were people that had it worse than me.
