At a stop in neutral gear after it being fully warmed up, it used to run from 1,800 RPM to 2,000. The coolant temp sensor was change and this didn't help. Changed PCV valve and now that has eliminated this high idle problem.:bigthumbsup

sometimes it's the simplest things.......and why we do regular maintenance on items such as the PCV valve. Cap, rotor, plugs every 2 years maximum for me. Fuel filter every 4-5 years. Wires as needed (watch under the hood at night for the light show after doing the cap, rotor, plugs).

Glad you figured out the problem!
Had new PCV valve installed with rubber grommet and mesh screen. The water temp coolant sensor was first changed and didn't solve probelm. Then did PCV fix and that worked. Since I already had a new Ford ACT sensor I replaced the original one that was over 20 years old Both sensors that were replaced were over 20 years old. The PCV I have it changed every 15,000 miles .
Now time to do the door lock actuators. I replaced that 7 months ago and now it is kaput again:headscratch: Maybe next time I should get the Ford OEM part even though it costs $140+ instead of 39.95 reproduction acctuator:headscratch: .
