My 95 3.8L has started acting up with very rough idle, it fluctuates between +/- 200 rpm every 5 secs approx. My throttle cable is a little loose, dou u think thats the cause?........

Have you tried changing the O2 sensors. Whenever I start getting bad idyling, it's been the O2 sensors each time. How many miles do you have on the sensors?

I've never had a set of o2 sensors go bad that affected idle and I've owned 4 fords with a combined 700000 miles.

Only once have a set gone bad, and all that happened was the CEL came on. It didn't affect idle at all.

Since the O2 sensors aren't that hard to take out, I'd give them a good cleaning. It can't hurt and may send a better reading to your computer. We do it quite a bit in our Ford shop. No kidding they really can effect your idle. I'm looking at one I just replaced. I wasn't able to clean it up enough to get it to work properly so I replaced it with a new one. Difference between night and day.
