I Have a Universal Accel Super Stock Ignition Coil, that i plan to put on my 89 LX 5.0. The car is basically stock, do u think i will run into any problems by installing it, i wanted to be sure before i cut of the connector for the stock ignition coil.
i think you should just get a msd tfi blaster coil or a crane cams ps91 coil. the universal ones , are designed for older cars and may not have the power to run efficiently .
Before you cut the connector: When I bought my control arms, the seller threw in a universal MSD Blaster coil, it just had two threaded terminals with nuts to cinch down the wire. I'm kind of anal about cutting (factory)wires on cars, so I took an ordinary blade fuse, like a fox body uses(blown), and I used a lighter to melt and remove the plastic. I then took the two naked blade terminals and soldered a few inches of wire to each of them, and used some heat-shrink tubing to form little boots which left enough blade exposed to plug into the factory coil connector. I then fastened those wires to the coil.
I even got the polarity right the first time - as far as I can tell.:kooky:
