This is a question for my fellow forum members with OEM lighted door sill plates. I have the factory "MUSTANG" logo plate. I like the look, but I need to know, Can you change the default color. I know they change to whatever you set the ambiant lighting color to, but what if I don't want the ambiant lighting on. Mine turn green if I turn off the ambiant lighting. I have my gauges either on white or cool blue normally and I want my door sill plates to match without having to constantly run ambiant lighting. Is there a way to change the default color. I have searched everywhere and found nothing on this topic. Not a big deal but I have OCD and it drives me crazy.

That's a good question! I'd love to know if that could be changed.
I'd also love to know if I can make my gauges the same white that they are when my lights are shut off. The white that they give you to select is much dimmer than the lights-off white.

Stupid question (mine, not yours)....Have you tried to set the ambient color to the one that you would like the door sill to be then shut the ambient off? I haven't tried it, but I was wondering if that would work?

Yeah I know you can change them but when you turn the ambient lighting off they go back to the default green. Thats what I' m trying to change. I want them the color I choose without running ambient lighting all the time.

This isn't a direct answer but you might like the ambient lighting alot better if you turn off the halo color for the gauges. I really like the ambient lighting but that was waaaaay too much of a good thing.

I believe that you can wire these manually for the models that did not have the lighting effect from the factory (like my 07). In the american muscle reviews for this product someone posted this:
"Got these to replace the cheap door sills in my base model 2012 V6 which did NOT come with the ambient lighting package. Install took only a couple of hours, I cut the plugs that you could use if you had the ambient lighting package, there were 4 wires, one ground and three positive wires (different combinations changes the color). I used a 9 volt battery to find the color I wanted (used all three wires to make white). I then removed the map/dome light cover and used tapping splices to tap into the map light, used 18 gauge wire from AutoZone and ran the wire through the headliner and down the pillar. After the install I must say they look awesome! High quality look."

They look cool but $200 is a bit steep. My 07 came with the non illuminated sill plates they just need to be shined up a bit.

Oh sorry, I misunderstood what you were trying to do... lol I never knew the default sill color is green,I bascially custom blended my own colors and stored those for future use.I agree the white is more like a gray and also quite weak in intensity.
I probably change the colors weekly all around, gives it that "just new" feel lol.
one color I NEVER use is that shocking pink (almost magenta) pretty bright and very girly ( no offence to you ladies :worship) just not my cupOtea.
On a different note,my 2011 GTCS is two years old today, got her pampered as of 8am this morning,a close friend of mine (auto painter ) came over,we washed it,clay bar'd it rinsed it off dried it then used a sealer and finally polished it beautifully...also did the whole interior, and she gleams :bigthumbsup
My wife and daughter decided to get me a birthday card with a note they will buy me whatever rims I want, I have all winter to make up my mind on what to get!

Thanks for the information. I am working on a 14 GT 500 and they are defaulted to red and they do not change with the ambient lighting package. The customer wanted purple to match his halo/ambient/gauge lighting. I just used the existing wiring and jumped power from the red wire to the blue and now the sill plates match. Again thanks for the info.
