Install Hood Scoop/Stripes - How?

3815 Views 6 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  Andywalls
i was just wandering, does anyone know how to install a hood scoop? im not getting a shaker system, just something for the looks. would i need to get this professionally done? also i was wandering how hard is it to install stripes yourself. are you bound to mess up somewhere? is it worth it to just get them professionally done? or is it worth just getting them painted on? how much should it cost to get them painted on?

please let me know if you have any answers to my inquiries :bigthumbsup

yea what ever 3 m tape that comes...go get wider, mine turned out really well.

have it painted and do it yourself.

ford painted mine ( wrong color ) and said they would put it on for $50 more.

you should look in to one that bolts on though.
the stripes arent bad if you have great patience and attention to detail. What my friend did when installing was put painting tape across that bottom so that he had a straight line at the level he wanted to install and then at that point just carefully put the stripes right above the tape level in order to get it straight He said it was kind of a pain the first side and by the 2nd he got it down np... It really beats the costs of having some1 do it.

As far as the hood scoop get a bolt on and measure twice drill once shouldnt be hard if u just take ur time before drilling in... Much better then double sided tape because in summer, that tape kinda gets alil weak (it did with my rear black out panel) and i had to replace which was a pain in the butt cause double sided tape is quite stubborn in the parts that do want to stick. Overall shouldnt be difficult at all, just slightly time consuming and stressful is ur OCD

just reread and im talking about the decal stripes not having painted on. Theyre cheap and look great but cant match paint obviously just cost alot less. American Muscle has many kinds of stripping sets u can look at. Wasnt sure if u were talking about that or having painted on.

Yea painted is around a grand id if that much. Id say theyd charge u prob around 100 in the same area as ur hood scoop. Face it, its just a sticker doesnt take "skill" just someone who wants to take the time to do it! I cant see it being that outrageous but personally id just make it my Saturday morning project and just enjoy doing it urself. Also they send tons of extra stripe length so its not a get it right or ur SOL.

My weekend project is putting on my new axel back exhaust and putting on my lowering kit with my friend at the shop he works at... (those front springs scare the hell outta me)
