Got the old alternator out. Went to put the new one in but the bolt alternator for the née 3g is way off. In yellow are the original mounts. Even looking at a 2g alternator, the bolt patterns don’t seem to match what I have now.
When looking at the picture, the lower attachment point for the new alternator is way to the left where there is nowhere to mount it. Does anyone have any suggestions?

He has a 60’s mustang with a Ford Racing 302 crate motor in it with an unknown bracket. Belt tensioner

I believe that's a 2G. 3G's have an internal fan.

Save yourself $80 and buy the same one through their 'bargain bin'. They are returned alternators for whatever reason. Each one is gone through, repaired and are guaranteed 100% to work. I've used two of their bargain bin units on two different cars and each works flawlessly!

So the horrible thing is - 3g alternators won’t fit in my car, even with various types of brackets.

Does it not even fit if you bolt it up to the top bracket (normally pivot point on V-belt motors), and rotate it away from main bracket?
Could create some new lower bracket to hold alt tab? (Also can't tell if doing that was going to hit tower or not from pic)

I’ll go home and look. Part of the problem is the depth of the mounts in the bracket, but could work.
