I haven't seen much hate for the Mustangs (or other cars) by me. Then again I deal only with the classics so I feel there isn't the "competition" you get with the newer cars, I personally think there's more respect overall for the classics no matter what they are.

If I didn't have my 68 then I'd have a 68 or 69 Camaro or Firebird which were what I was also considering when I went looking for an older car. I had wanted something common and easy to get parts for and a Camaro or Mustang fit that bill.

I wouldn't say I've seen a hate for Mustangs. Everybody has their personal preference. I like a lot of the old classics. I appreciate a well restored Chevelle, Charger, or Mustang. They're all great. Even the antiques I see at shows. They're not Mustangs, but I can still appreciate the care and workmanship that went into them.
I think the problem with newer cars is they tend to look the same. take the GTO for example. Nice power, but looks like everything else out there, so who cares? The S197's created a stir because they looked so different. Maybe there are some who look at them as competition for the Tuner crowd, but hey, there's room for all of us.

New owner...Need someones Help??

I have had My 40th Anniversary for 6months and LOVE it!!...That's why I was devestated when I had an accident in it.

The body shop just completed the repairs, however, they are trying to return the car to me with a slightly crooked hood....In other words, there is slightly more space between the hood and the molding on the driver's side then on the passenger side.

I told them that this is not right and the repair shop is trying to tell me that the Mustangs are built with these slight flaws and the car was like that when I brought it in...Hmmm???

If anyone can tell me if this sounds right I would greatly appreciate your help. I think they just goofed up on the repairs and don't want to go back and fix it again...This is killing me to see my baby like this!

Please Help!!:happyhapp

Larenbel,
I'm not inclined to think the body shop did shabby work as much as it may be a poor fitting after market fender. That isn't to say you don't have an issue with them, but either way it will cost them to make you happy and they probably won't roll over easily.

on a 1968 mustang is it hard to repair rust on that peice of metal below the rear wind sheild. its in between the rear winsheild and the trunk. how much would it cost
The early mustangs everyone likes there a old car.I don't like the mustang after 73 but i don't make fun of people for having them.If ford never made the mustang id probably have a big block fairlane or another impala.
I dont think its hate.. but there are some mustang drivers that are out trying to prove there car is fast. (mostly fox-body and newer) I cant drive the vette for 1/2 an hour without one of these mustangs finding me and trying to get me to race... I dont know if its the ford/chevy thing but it seems the mustang drivers are much more aggresive about it than camaro owners..(I have both so I'm not biased) I would think that would be the only thing to even dislike... not hate... althoug the riced out 96 v6 that the owner claimed to have a twin turbo rotary with forged pistons (true story) , I kinda hate that...

Just the other day I was out cruising in the Mach and I was stopped next to a absolutely beautiful 68 Camaro that was butternut yellow with a black vinyl top (one of my favorite cars ever built). I gave him a friendly wave from one classic car enthusiast to another and that sorry s.o.b. gave me a thumbs down and rolled his window up. I dont think it was so much of an I hate mustangs thing as it was an im an arrogant jerk no matter what I drive thing.

now thats just not right... heck I give "thumbs up" to ANY old car on the road.. even if I'm on my sportbike (which ocassionally gets dirty looks from the classic car crowd)...

Hello.:) A few years ago I was out picking up our Christmas tree in a 65 K code coupe that I had. I had pulled the back seat out so I could stuff it all the way up in there with just the top of the tree sticking out. As I was trying to get out of the parking lot, traffic on the road was pretty heavy and I was trying to be civilized about the situation, so I waited and waited and waited some more for a good gap to ease out into, but it just wasn't coming. I got tired of waiting, so when I saw a little bit of daylight, I just hammered it and cut the wheel a bit so I would go sideways, but in a controled way.The car scooted out sideways into the second lane, the tires caught traction right on cue and jumped up to traffic speed ( about 50) in no time flat. Tires squeeling, straight-pipe exhaust, all of that stuff.:gringreen An old guy in a bird-hood trans am eased up beside me at the next light. At first, you could see that he was a little bit surprised to see me driving the car like that, but then he broke into a great big grin and gave me a thumbs up.:)

If not for the Mustang, I'd be looking for a 68-70 AMX. I've always liked a challenge, that why I've always been into non-GM cars. I can remember the days when finding performance parts and performance info on a Ford or Mustang wasn't easy. This is before the Internet.

About every time I'll pull up someplace nowadays in my 67 fastback, there'll be some goofball running up to me to inform me about his friend's brother's brother's hot Chevy. It's got to be a long drawn out lesson on B.S. every time. It's like he's trying to impress me with what he doesn't know. What the Hell do I care about somebody's Chevy. Chevy's are like assholes, everybody got one. Pardon the expression.

Well , if i get grief from whoever driving what ever, i always remind them that when Mustangs first came out that they sold something like 22,000 in the first day and round abouts one million in two years........ford must have been doing something right!!! If the mustang wasnt around, they would find some other car to moan about. God bless the 69 Fastback Mustang (personally) I say

If I had to choose another car it would be a 70 challenger or cuda
