For anyone that has completed the task. How hard is it to stripe your own car and where is the best place to get the best vinyl durable stripes?

I got mine from BSM (Baltimore Street Mods). Excellent quality Vinyl and Rob (owner) is great to work with. As far as installation, if you plan on striping bumper-to-bumper (like I did), you may want to consider finding a good graphics shop for install. I did, and for the $150 labor, it was WELL worth it. Bumpers/spoilers took more time than the rest of the car. Hood, roof, truck, and rocker panels were fairly strait forward... but getting the stripes to properly lay down, adhere, and align on the bumpers and spoilers took some know-how.

I worry about keeping the stripe straight on the long runs.

It's not hard. You'll mark everything with grease pencil and masking tape. Once the stripes go on, you have a good 30 seconds to get them positioned before the adhesive starts to take hold.

Do you wet soap the under side so the vinyl can slide and at what point do you press the vinyl to the car?

You make a mixture of original dawn dishwashing liquid (it has to be dawn) and put it in a spray bottle. You spray the stripe and position it. At that point you use a very soft squeegee to push the solution and any air bubbles out from under the stripe. The key is to follow directions and not to rush!

Im gonna have to agree that it is worth the time. If you can, just have it done. I saw the guy who did my car work and I would never have the patience to do that.
