I had an o/r x pipe but hit a pot hole and ruined it, had to throw back on the h pipe but it's just so quite and I don't have the money to invest in a new one just yet. So I'm wondering if I cut the resonators off and just weld some pipe there will it sound better or just a waste of time?

Those arent resonators! Those are catalytic converters my friend. They are what remove many of the harmful gasses that come out of our cars. Some people (most people) will say that you should cut them off. I personally wont. I'm no earthy freak, but I feel like the benefits dont outweigh the cost of putting all that crap into the environment. You dont go dumping your lawn fertilizer into your towns water supply, so why dump all of that into the air we breathe. Idk, just my two cents. Get a nice muffler and a catted X pipe. You will be happy you did.

As to directly answer your question: If you think louder and raspier sounds better, then yes, they will sound better. Personally I love my catted X pipe.

Those are resonators! The only think that might happen is you will get a lot of unwanted high pitch sound:nono: at certain RPM's while excellerating, but it will be louder!

Okay okay im sorry, I misunderstood what you were describing. You are correct that those are resonators/mufflers. I would just keep them on, like you said, it will pop, rasp, and slap. I think it sounds too much like a truck. If you were looking for a good tone but a bit louder for virtually free, you could always just dump the exhaust right after the muffler. Its a surprisingly popular route.

Sound waves are very directional. On a standard exhaust, the sound is all projected backwards. By dumping the exhaust, you will allow it to bounce off the pavement and around to the surroundings. Plus you may gain some hp? I dont see why not!
