Hello,
A friend has a 01 GT 4.6 that needs a motor replaced. He ordered a supposed Mustang 4.6 but it appears as though it is a Crown Vic 4.6. We know he has to change the throttle body, injectors, and other misc. items.

His question is, is the cam and HP rating the same? Where on the Crown VIc block does he look to find the date code and what numbers does he need to know to know what year it is?

Thanks,
Chris

From what i understand there are two Ford plants that make the 2v 4.6 engines. One is Windsor and the other is Romeo. My understanding is that the engines in the Mustangs all come from one of these sources and that there is a differance between the two. I am not knowlegdable enough to tell you what that is however. I believe one of the differances is the number of attaching holes on the back of the crank (for flywheel/flexplate), but again I am not sure.
