I have a 1998 convertible and have been throwing around the idea of putting some subs in her. As you know with the convertibles you get less trunk space so i was hoping to avoid a box in my trunk. I was thinking about cutting holes (one on each side) underneath my back seat. I dont want to do a back seat delete and modifying the body and foam of the back seat to put the speakers in isnt a big deal for me i can do that no problem. My only concern is if the area i create under the seat will act as a make shift box and work as one. With the foam of the seat absorbing some of the sound and the make shift box i have created under the seat being encased by the car im not sure if it would work. Maybe i can drill some small holes on either side of the speakers installed under the seat to let the sound out, im not 100% sure on this i am an amature on sound systems and the buddies i know dont have the answers. Also i was wanting to know how to change out the stock amp with an after market. I heard it is a pain since ford made the mach 460 system a proprietary system.
Thanks!

Check this out. There are subs that are ultra thin that you can potentially mount underneath the front seats or at least save needed space. Albeit, they are more expensive than other setups.

Shallow Mount | Pioneer Electronics USA

I do not know if pioneer is the best company for this type of product, I just googled real quick. HA!
