Hey everyone, long-time lurker here. I am going to look at a Mustang tomorrow and want to know what you think of the price? I'll obviously inspect the car in detail for rust, structural integrity, etc...but I want to know what the forum thinks the price range is. Below is the link to the for-sale ad. If truly as described, it is a fair price. I do question the quality of the workmanship though. Looking at the underhood shots and I see some poor looking paint and/or repair work. Radiator support looks like it may have been kinked at one time. I would want to look at it in person or have a really knowledgeable person check it out.

Thanks for the quick response! I thought the same thing about the radiator support. Any other questionable items from the views shown? I'm going to look tomorrow so any help is appreciated. Anything else specific I should be looking for.

I don't see anything else that really stands out. Good luck! I will be interested in hearing what you found. I would definitely check it out from under neath.

Headliner is saggy, it has the wrong gas cap, the engine compartment is the wrong color, it will need rear springs so you can take off the fugly red-neck lift kit (oversized spring shackles) and probably paint soon, it's not the original paint, but a fresh repaint with a ton of orange peel and bad prep. You'll want to put in a collapsible column and 3 point seat belts if you want to drive it on the road with other cars around. I'd also wonder why they took off the rocker moldings (damage)?
If they drop money for all the problems, it might be worth buying, if you want a project. AS is it's worth maybe 7,000.00 or so.

These dealers are looking for a profit and someone wants a lot of the rebuild money back. This seems a bit pricey for an I-6.

Be sure to take a mirror and good flashlight.

While I disagree about the engine compartment color ( mustang came with a semi-flat black finish) hard to tell from the photos. The shot of the right front fender looking closely the way the body line is rounded at the front makes me think BONDO and lots of it. The headliner and non stock seats along with the 70 style gas cap. are all indications of a non MUSTANG guy trying to spruce up a used car and unload it quick. Check the grille hood shot and you'll see the grille is not in line with the hood, so much so that the drivers side grill molding doesn't fit flush, couple with the kinks in the rad support and the obvious body work on the passenger side I 'd say it was whacked pretty good at one point. The amount of overspray on the upper cowl where the washer nozzles are make me think cowl leak, pour a bucket of water in the cowl vets and make sure its not getting the floor wet.

In my humble opinion its a lot of money for a 6 cyl coupe.

It has to do with the rarity, not the displacement. Everyone and his brother drops a 289, 302, 351, etc into a Mustang, it does not make it rarer in any way.
As for the car here, it is too high priced, not because of the engine, but because of the condition and what it still needs to be done right.
