I've noticed a surging feeling lately during hard acceleration. Typically in 1st and 2nd gear. To me it feels almost as if traction control is cutting power so the wheels don't spin. I'm in the habit of turning off TC as soon as I start the car, but maybe I'm doing something wrong. I noticed it today and thought I would get some opinions.

Today it was 72F and my car and tires were warm. I matted in 1st at about 15mph. I noticed it surge two or three times, and then another two times after shifting into 2nd. It really feels like the car is cutting power. I don't think there is something wrong with the car, and maybe it's a setting or some type of undefeatable TC that is trying to keep the tires from spinning.

Has anyone else noticed this? Am I missing something here? It seems to me like this car should be able to light up a set of 235's, especially if they're not warmed up. Any advice would be awesome.

Are you tapping the TC button or stopping and holding it down for a while? To kill TC and all the stability things i believe you have to be stopped with foot on brake and hold down the TC Button for a good bit. Your dash will tell you when its all off.

Some of them allow you to brake while doubletapping for 'sport mode'. My performance package has that and it lets you have more fun, but still limits when you really get on it.

If I press the button once, the light comes on and TC is supposedly turned off. If I hold it for 7 seconds with the brakes applied, I believe it enters sport mode. I've noticed when I do that, the steering feel gets switched and locked to sport mode also. From what I've read, sport mode just lets things slip a bit more than usual, but it will still intervene if it thinks things are getting out of hand. I just want to find a way to turn all that crap off.

My sport mode isn't tied to an extended hold. Sport mode is a 'brake on w/ a double tap'. Disabling everything is done via the extended hold. Did they change things up between model years?

I think I've figured out how it works. My car (2014) doesn't have the performance package, so it doesn't have a 'sport mode'. If I press the TC button once, it disables TCS, but leaves ESC enabled. If I put my foot on the brake while stopped and hold the TC button for 7 seconds, it seems to turn off TCS and ESC. It also locks the steering to sport. If I go into the vehicle settings, I can't manually change the steering feel back to comfort unless I reengage the TC button. I haven't had a chance to see if this fixes the surging in acceleration. Lots of traffic and rain this weekend.

Rain? What better time to test this? Lol

Do you notmally drive around in comfort steering? It feels so light...
Lol I agree, but gotta be careful in traffic. I'm turning 25 in a few days and I'd like my insurance to drop, not go through the roof.

And yeah I do typically use the comfort setting. I prefer the lightness as a daily driver. I've used it for so long that the sport setting feels really artificially heavy and doesn't seem to offer any more feel than comfort.
