JLT intake and Xcal 2 installed ;o)

Hey all! I just put in the JLT and sheesh that was really easy to do. I also got the Xcal 2 and yes that was as easy as they say as well, Everyone here must get this stuff!

The difference in the car is awesome. It squeals the tires into second and I even get a little chip into third. All I did was up the shift points 4mph each and put the 91 octane tune in ( dumb CA gas ) There was another option after the shift points that I wasn't too sure what it was so I didn't change them.

:) My JLT CAI and tuner should be here tommorow or Tuesday. I am glad to hear that so satisfied! I can hardly wait to get it installed.

Next will be Bassani axle backs.

Another first post! Welcome wbr351 !!! HEY that looks like my car! nice !!
Yea, first post. Been hanging a while a few weeks and am impressed with the knowledge and helpfullness conveyed on this site. I hope I can soon pass on my experiences and insight to others.

:wavey
welcome wbr351 and this is great to hear how easy the install and calbration is.
Believe it or not, it will get better again in a couple days. When I reflashed mine, the first time I drove it, I was pretty impressed. A couple days later, I hit it and it was like a different car. It was like the ECM had to settle down and learn all the settings. I've had zero problems, and lots of fun with mine.

Oh, and welcome to the forum!

Help!

:) Received my JLT CAI and SCT tuner today. The CAI install was a breeze, and does it ever look great! Really sets off the engine bay.

 However, being old school (tuning to me means changing jets, rotating distributors, etc) the SCT sure lacks directions. I was under the impression (albiet incorrectly) that JLT provided tunes specifically for maximum performance with their CAI. Nothing could be found. I was able to change the intake selection from stock to JLT, tune to 93 octane and reflash with those changes. No CEL, car runs fine, no detonation, so I guess I'm OK for now.

Any suggestions or advise would be greatly appreciated.

You will love the JLT kit. I have that on my GT as well as the Ford Racing Mufflers... it sounds mean and runs awsome! Congrats!
where did you go on the xcal to change the cai from stock to jlt, in custom tune?
05mustang:

Yes, and it appears to have accepted and loaded those parameters.
I just received an e-mail confirmation from Jay @ JLT that I in fact did tune correctly.

:winks And just ordered my MAC axle backs! This is starting to get expensive.
You will love the MAC axlebacks...and so will the neighbors:eyepoppin !
I'd love to install this but have a quick question - Will installing the JLT CAI and Xcal2 on my 2005 GT invalidate the ford standard warranty in anyway?

Not according to my dealership. BTW - Welcome to AFM... Great group of guys (and gals) here.
The only minor complaints I had with the JLT was that the supplied heat shield came a little close to touching the corner of the cylinder head and that I would have liked a little more length left on the big rubber elbow on the engine side.

oh, and until I wiped the oil off the inside of the filter neck, I had a miserable time trying to clamp it on.

These are minor things, and I am very happy with it. And I haven't even stepped up to the 93 tune yet! I did fab up a second heat shield for the radiator side and notched the supplied shield....mostly because i was bored one Saturday.

I just got the California Dreaming hood..its the ram air version. now I NEED the JLT intake kit. however Im with wbr351...old school....guess I can figure it out???? Is it that simple guys??? who has the best price on this setup?
also...are these tuners only good for 1 car??? can I use it on my buddys GT? I know they will tune different types of vehicles. Can I tune my 02 F250 power stroke towing truck and my 06 GT race car?? :) with the same tuner?
I got mine direct from JLT. Intake, color matched to car, with tuner and three tunes, $600 delivered. They are currently running a special, check out this thread:

The tuners are only good for one vehicle. When you program your vehicle, it downloads your factory tune along with the vehicle VIN for an identifier. You can reset your vehicle to factory, then program your buddies, but you probably don't like him that much!:smoke:

LOL..you are right! thanks for the link. So ...since I have installed Pypes X pipe with no cats....does this tuner not "tune" my car now?
