Hi all, I noticed when I simply put my finger over the top of the connector on the valve cover side, the air noise goes away..huh.gif.. yea, no pressure applied, just finger on top that black connector piece. I cant SEE a hole there but there must be something there...Anyone else notice this? (open your hood and try this if you have one). Is there a better one out there?

I just ordered one, good to know... Have had it on the back burner for too long. Wonder if I'll be returning it for a better one pending some further input.

I'll be getting a better one - too late to return. :/ Points of failure include the plastic fittings that go into the can (I have been super careful with mine), and somehow it can end up with plastic parts in the screen (I have no idea how) and leaks ( I now have 1st hand experience). Good luck.

This has been covered before. Maybe contacting JLT first they will ship you brass fittings. Last I knew oil separator's they build now were brass fittings. I changed mine to brass fittings back in 2011 I didn't bother calling them just fixed it myself. You can get brass fittings from any hardware store or auto parts store

What's a better option for a separator?

This was an issue on the early separators. There were two plastic fittings on them. One was prone to breakage. That fitting has been replaced with a metal one. Anything they are shipping today should not be a problem.

Thanks for the input. amer.gif As to being covered before.. inoutugh.gifnearly everything has to some degree. :). Joking aside Looking on the AM site I see plastic, still. :(

50blackout can you explain your comment more? I am not understanding it. Pressure from the pcv? Why is it hissing and when I simply place my finger on it it stops? I am not applying pressure. I wonder if the factory one hisses like that?:headscratch: I can put it back on and try.

Better options? dunno..it was the right price and JLT, haven't heard anything bad until recently. I was told change out the fittings( they havent broken yet) and use that sealer tape stuff in the threads..

Try putting the stock one back on and you'll see what I mean. Its the noise from the pressure . If these things leak its usually from where the hose attatches to the can. I put Teflon tape there (black tape to blend in) to be safe.

Best Catch can supposedly: BOB'S

I have the JLT coming in today. I'll check and see what the fittings are and report back. They do still look like plastic on the AM site, will see later on. If so, I might send it back and go with another option, or replace the plastic with brass fittings.

The UPR Products catch can is the best on the market. We have researched and tested catch can designs for years, and this is our best yet. Shown here on a 2015, but it's available for all years. Click this link and look at the internals of the can. It's high tech!

That 11-14 model doesn't look to have the quick connect fittings like their 15 model does. Is that available for ours, or do we just order the 15 model?

or this for our cars correct? 11-14 Mustang GT 5.0 Billet Oil Catch Can Separator
Looks like a winner man. basket.gif
That IS an 11-14 kit, but it's not the new style. We don't have the web listing for the new can yet, but if you call us at 561.588.6630, we can ship you the new style can.

Yes, it's essentially the 15 model, but if you call us to order, we'll get you into the newer style can.

Thanks guys!

I just ordered one of these new design catch cans for my 14 GT. When I called UPR, they said the 15 GT SC can is the same for the 11-14 GT cars so I ordered mine online. Hopefully he was right. I'm curious to see how it compares to my Bob's catch can.

Hey Wayne,

Keep us informed on how the updated UPR catch can is. I was actually debating on the Bob's catch can. How is the Bob's working out for you? Anyone else running the Bob's catch can? I am running the JLT as well and not really a big fan of it. I have both passenger and drivers side. I really don't see any oil in the drivers side catch can. Drivers side a waste of money?

The Bob's can works very well and I'm not getting the UPR because I think it's better than the Bobs, I just think the UPR's new design is very interesting and I want to see how well it works. I'm also wanting to test it because my fiancee runs UPR's original design can with their new diffuser on her 07 GT and oil still gets to the intake so I want to replace it with something else.

If the new design can works well, I will either buy one for her and make it work on her 07 GT, or put the Bob's can on hers.

As far as the driver's side catch can goes, almost everything I have read says you don't need one on that side and won't catch any oil there or a very minimal amount. I would just go with a passenger side one if you decide to get a different brand.

While it looks very well engineered, I always hesitate buying from a vendor that can't write a description that is grammatically correct and mistake free.
