I received my CAI JLT SERIES 3 and Bama tunes with Sct x4 tuner ...not installed yet as car still in storage....hopefully for not too much longer.... I was just wondering will the car sound louder with the CAI AND TUNE?

Mine did slightly on 93 with my automatic and Borla stingers, but 87 and 89 tunes were no different. My 5 speed doesn't sound any different to me, but I do seem to catch myself in the go pedal a little more...
I didn't notice much sound difference in the exhaust, but mine is already pretty darn loud. With my JLT Series 3 CAI and X3 Tuner, running a Bama 93 Octane Race Tune installed, I found myself on the throttle a whole lot more!

It's crazy how much of a difference the throttle response will be after tuned. One thing I do notice sound-wise is, I can hear the CAI sucking in air when you throttle it. It's just a slight whistle, but I love hearing it if I have the windows down! :bigthumbsup

After I installed mine, I immediately noticed a much sharper throttle response. When getting on the gas, there's a delicious induction roar and I can hear the intake sucking in air when I have the window open.
Absolutely love it!

I drove my car for 2 years stock before I tuned it. I knew what my car sounded like under all conditions. I heard a difference right away and that was with the 87 street tune. It's nothing that will turn heads but you and anyone who knows your car will hear it.
Looks like you've been driving yours stock for a while also. You're gonna love this upgrade. Lookin forward to your update.

Yeah, I think one of the main things they do in the tune is turn up the throttle sensitivity. So when you push a little on the pedal, you get a lot more throttle than before. This gives the illusion of a lot more power, and would increase the intake noise because the throttle is more open than before.

Ive been wanting this intake for a while now and I might get one this year. For some reason I feel this is the best intake with the most gains out of all the rest. Should i fee like that or are there others that out perform it.
Well if the damn snow would ever go away and the streets dry up I can't wait to install the mods and cruise like there's no tomorrow..... It's what gets me thru the winter......waiting to pull the mustang out and drive with the roof downplus1..gif

When I was looking around for CAIs a good while back, the only two I considered were JLT and Airaid. After reading for forever I felt like the JLT Series 3 was the best option. It had the best HP gain for your buck and every post I read had nothing but good things to say about JLT. I paired mine with an X3 and Bama tune and never looked back!

careyk, I was the same way! I was going nuts not being able to drive mine. Had to walk past her everyday and hop in my truck. The snow finally disappeared down here and it felt so good to be back in the driver seat of the Mustang!

I took my car out of storage today....yeh!!!! I installed the Jlt series 3 intake loaded the performance tune......it seemed a bit more peppy compared to before and a bit more louder...throttle response seems good. ....my car is full of 87 octane fuel so I can't try the race tune....I guess? Until the tank is empty I can refill with premium fuel.....I told bama I wanted the race tune on 93 octane..,,..,but when I went to the one gas station the best they had was 91 octane......if I can't find better than 91 octane what do I do to adjust the tuner for race tune to 91 from 93 ?......also why does the car not want to start right away after loading a tune?

If 91 is the highest octane you can get, then you should get a new 91R tune from Bama. I could be mistaken, but I am pretty sure they can do the race tune for 91 octane. If you call them, you'll probably have the new tune in your e-mail before you burn the 87 out of your tank.

As I understand it, the fuel pump needs a little time to come up to pressure after you install a tune. If you turn the ignition on for 10 or 20 seconds before you turn the key to start, that gives it a little time for the pressure to build and then it should fire right away.

Thanx they are setting me up with a 91 performance and 91 race tune ...hopefully in the mail soon

CareyK, may I ask how you're liking the new setup? Did you find it raised the volume overall?
I'm avery interested in buying this mod for my 05 convertible, and have been doing research for too many hours! Thanks for your insights

I have a JLT CAI Series3 with a sct tuner from Brenspeed. I have the highest octane level 95. That tune is awesome. You can really feel the difference between stock and after.

On the topic of JLT and Brenspeed, who has ordered theirs with the custom color option? Has the paint finish held up? Any complaints or compliments? I've got a black Stang with the Crimson interior, and was thinking of getting the tube in red

Same here, and the 95 octane you're referring to is the RON rating preferred in Europe, which is the same as 91 US octane.

I recently installed the JLT Series 3 with the Bama V2 87 Performance(street) Tune.
I do love the throttle response, and the fact I can actually pass in fifth.

Can't verify if it made a difference in sound, as I did my Pype Bombs at the same time.
Next week when I run out of gas, I switch to 91R>:)

Do it. To me there's no sense in tuning a high performance engine to run on 87 octane catpiss. Give it the brew it deserves! :D
Had a slight issue with my battery. A cell died...couldn't tune it, every time I hooked it up, it told me bad battery.

Now I have a new battery, and just over a quarter tank.

And I agree, especially with the current trend of gas prices.
280 for premium, in the summer? I think I will haha
