'12 GT. Solid feel, very short throw! There's some tranny noise which I expected, but when shifting into gears, it's makes a very loud thump! Didn't expect that.is the clunk sound from the bracket or shifter?

A bit of both. It's just due to parts banging into each other. Parts of the tunnel can be fitted with sound deadener if it gets to you too much.

I have had a Barton bracket and shifter for over a year. I get a little more noise and vibration, but no thump when going into gears. You better double check everything, something may be out of sorts.
I had a performance shop install it. It shifts fine. American Muscle told me it's normal. I dunno.
I have the bracket. No thump.
Here's a video. Normal?

The 'thump' is normal. Mine does the same thing.

Yes, The shifts are just more positive then the stock shifter.

No doubt about that!
watched the video. thats normal. thats how mine is and thats how the one was in their test car that i sat in at carlisle.
The pleasing thump is half the point. (Oh Brother Where Art Thou reference...)

I plan on changing out my shifter this spring.

Thanks guys. It's a great shifter.
Yep, that's normal. I have the Steeda TriAx with the Barton Two Post and I get that.
I don't seem to get a thump with mine that I notice.
I suppose I will look for that.

The shortness of throw is pretty incredible from the stock throw though.

Reverse is real hard to push down on the shifter.
Not that I care.

Sounds just like mine.
video is 100% normal, enjoy smooth crisp shifting :bigthumbsup
While the shifts are shorter and crisp, there's just way too much tranny noise as well as the loud noise when shifting into gears. Stock shifter and bracket is going back in.
Wonder why it's doing that.
NVH in mine is the same as it was when stock.

I didn't do the install.

I had read many things that said the NVH would increase, even SAI told me that.
But in my case, I didn't experience any increase.

The pitches changed a little but there is no overall increase in loudness.
