So i was surfing around the internet today when i stumbled onto a forum discussing which intake system is better between the JLT rai and the K&N gen II intake. As i read on i saw a picture of an intake system that one of their members had posted which looked to be the tubing of a JLT rai connected to the factory air box which i would assume has some sort of aftermarket filter inside, such as a K&N replacement filter. I would imagine that if u were to use this setup and take the filter screen out that it would be a pretty flawless intake system since it wouldn't be sucking in hot air like rai's do and there would be no concerns about suckin in water and road particles like the fenderwell cai's do since it uses the factory air box. What do u guys think? I understand that if there r even any performance differences that they will be almost unrecognizeable but do u think this setup is better, worse, or about the same compared to the regular JLT rai?

Looking at the picture again i don't think that the tubing is straight from the JLT rai but if i were to give this setup a try than i would be using my JLT rai tubing that i currently have on my stang....assuming that everything fit correctly.
This debate has gone on for years and years, and will continue in the future, I bet.

There was a test a few years back that showed a few aftermarket intakes vs. stock vs. stock with K&N drop in, removed air silencer, etc on a nearly stock car. Pretty much any combination you could think of, and there were no significant gains with any combination over the stock airbox with paper Motorcraft filter.
