Hey guys, been lurking for a bit now, but just put a deposit down to a private seller today on a very low mileage 2011 GT Premium (brembo, glass roof, 6mt). I'm brand new to ford (and domestics in general) Just came out of a 2001 BMW M coupe, and decided the new mustang was the way to go for me.

1 concession in buying a new car was that it HAD to be forced induction, unfortunately, the GT falls a bit short in that category, but nothing a day in the garage can't remedy. I'm looking at two positive displacement blowers.

Kenne Bell 2.8LC

vs.

Edelbrock E-Series

The KB seems to have more potential for power, and doesn't look quite as "finished" as the E-series, although theres still something beautiful about it. It also carries a 2-300 dollar premium over the edelbrock. The e-series looks like it belongs on the engine, uses the "acclaimed" TVS eaton, and did I mention it looks great.

Hoping to get some insight from folks that have these installed on their 11+ mustangs. I'll be doing the install myself, and will be buying a kit with the tuner included.

P.S. Accompanying mods will be lowering springs with koni yellows or STR's (with LCA's and panhard only if necessarry), and likely a set of longtubes with catted x-pipe down the road, gt500 mufflers.

I'd do the e-force as it is making great power at very low psi 4-5. Whereas the KB is going to have to make at least 7-8 psi and will put more stress on the engine over the longhaul.

Not to mention 560-600 to the wheels is plenty, although I have heard the KB can do 720 to the wheels on 15 psi which sounds great :gringreen Not sure how long the internals will handle that pressue though.

Also something to think about the e-force uses the some TVS that is used on the ZR1, Gt500, and Cts-V. So reason stands to think that it is better for longetivity if the OEs are using it.

Why not whipple 2.3L?

5.0 mag had it making insane power on low boost.

I love the whipple, but its a biiiiit pricey for me.

I haven't ruled out the roush, but the torque numbers seem low compared to the edelbrock, and the tq is what I'm really after.

RSB, from what I can tell it looks like the filter sits pretty low, do you have any details on the access to that area for cleaning/maintenance?

***A couple shot of the girl I got rid of to get into this 11 GT, she was amazing, but not the most DD friendly!***

Hmm, if longevity is a question, have you considerd any of the three tier superchargers Ford Racing offers the orginal 2011 GT owners?

the twin screw S.C. come in three flavors;
525hp & +80lb ft once on, an ECU tune from Ford Racing engineers that provides 7 psi of boost (93oct) /w 12 month 12,00 mi warranty if a ford dealer instals it.

625hp resulting in 536lb ft once on
@9 psi (93oct)

and uhh. . .
750hp @6100rpm rsulting in 719lb ft @ 4200 rpm
17psi of boost (93oct) o_Oa
No warranty!!:nogrinner

Ford Racing Performance Parts

yeah. . . i was shopping around myself.

My understanding is that kit is for the SVT Cobrag (i.e. gt500) The kit that fits the GT is the whipple products which we were just talking about, but the price tag is a bit too fat for my taste!

The last one was intended for the GT500 5.4.
If you wanted to piece together your own system, there are tuner kits available. That are less expensive but are less complete so you will need to add parts like injectors and a custom tune.

If I were going positive displacement, I would go with Roush. Read up on VMP's Rebecca Starkey and her 9 second 2011. Not only is it fast but very reliable having done dozens of passes without failure. If you read somewhere that torque is lacking then someone was mistaken.

I would be interested in anyone doing the edelbrock supercharger as well. I was going to go kenne bell but its almost 1k more expensive. Would rather save that 1k and invest it somewhere else in the car.

I ran a 2005 Mustang GT with the intercooled Whipple for 4 years, raced often and drove it summer and winter. I sold it and the new owner has been driving the car for 2 years, still runs great. It made 490 HP to the wheels, with automatic transmission (blew the tranny up tho :) .

I have the Edelbrock on my 2011 GT. Bought the tuner kit and installed it myself. I bought it back in 2011 when a lot of tuners didn't know much about tuning blowers for these cars yet. I had Lund remote tune it and I'm very happy with it. Looks like it belongs there and installation is easy...no grinding like the Roush kits.

Is there anyone who has run both of these Superchargers? Or, at least, driven them and can provide feedback on how they feel? I'm eying the Kenne Bell blower myself now. I see the 2.8LC is only $6,149 (w/out a tuner) in their 2014 catalog.

Another point in favor of the edelbrock is that there is no need to butcher the front of the engine, just drill and tap 3 existing holes. With the 3.5" pulley the kit is supposed to make 650hp at the engine (525 RWHP on the automatic). My Mustang is crazy fast with this kit. Even with the mickey thompson ET streets I have to be careful as traction is a problems at WOT. :)

I put the Kenne Bell on my 2011. I don't have any other driveline mods except for a Borla Cat Back exhaust. The kit is very professional, with a very detailed install manual. The car runs unbelievably fast! I dynoed the car with a larger (7 PSI Boost) SC pulley and put down 528 RWP with 429 RWTQ. I have since switched out to the smaller pulley that produces 9 pounds of boost but have not dynoed it since. My butt dyno definitely feels the difference I would guess very decent gains in both HP and TQ after going to the 9 lbs of boost. The most amazing thing is shape of the tq curve.....dead flat....looks like a table on the graph! I have had the SC on the car for two years now, but have only put about 3,000 miles on the super charger. No problems at all....other than trying to avoid the temptation to push the car to GO TO JAIL speeds in the blink of an eye!
