kill switch

Is it a waste of time to install a hidden kill switch for an anti theft device?
Im aware of the factory chipped key but not sure if thieves can easily bypass the factory anti theft. Or if the majority of vehicles stolen are on flat beds or tow trucks which would kinda make the switch worthless.

I've thought about doing this as well, but if you do wire one in be sure you do it right. My buddy had a '89 Saleen that the previous owner wired a kill switch into. Wiring must have shorted because eventually the car burst into flames and was totaled due to fire damage.

That said, I've been thinking of installing one that would disable the fuel pump unless the seatbelt was buckled up. Pretty sure most people breaking into my car wouldn't buckle up their seat belt before trying to fire it up. :shigrin

I bought a kill switch but haven't installed it yet. I think it is a good idea. But save your money and do it yourself instead of ordering one, I think they are way over priced. All it is, is a long wire and a toggle switch. Just splice into the ignition wire somewhere and find a spot to hide the toggle switch. That's all there is to it.
I also like the idea of disabling the fuel pump with the seat belt. Clever!
