the car i am going to be picking up in the next week or two has a short throw shifter, but the shaft is longer then the stock. is the short throw a smaller angle to shift then the stock or how does this really work? i am just curious on the topic and any advise would be nice

A short throw shifter basically relocates the pivot point of the shifter arm higher than stock, making it take less movement to shift. it puts more length of the shaft towards the transmission, basically equaling more shift with less movement. kinda hard to explain without a picture.
