Living in Iceland and looking for information about my 1969 Mustang.

Hi everybody, I have a '69 Mustang Mach-1 that was imported from USA to Iceland in 2005.

Unfortunatly I don't know much about my car other than that it was restored in 2004. I did a check the other day on the car and found out that all numbers match, engine, transmission, rear axle and such. The car is in excellent shape, laser straight and completely rust free. The odometer reads just over 46.000 miles and I don't know if it's the real number or even 146.000 miles.

Here in Iceland you can buy access to the Icelandic DMV database, and I was hoping that I, or someone in USA could access the DMV database and see who had owned it in the USA prior to the time it was sold and imported to Iceland.

I really want to get in touch with some previous owners, even better if someone could tell me the whole story behind the car, or just something that would be good to know. :cooldude:

So I need your help out there, can I or someone find out anything about my car? :smartass:

I have a Marti-Report so that is not something I'm looking for! :bigthumbsup

Hello. :) There wouldn't be one national database to check with here in the U.S. Each state maintains the records for varying periods of time of the cars registered in that state. What you would need to do is find out which state the car was registered in when it was purchased and shipped to Iceland. It would have had a title when it was shipped, and that title would have had a name and adress on it of the previous owner. Start with that person, see what he or she might remember about who they bought the car from, and just back-track it from there. :)

If you really have trouble finding out the information, just send me the car and I'll be willing to drive it around as much as possible and see if anybody recognizes the car! :bigthumbsup

I called the guy that bought the car from USA, few days ago, and he told me the car was bought from Arizona. He doesn´t have the title that came with the car to see the name of the guy that sold him the car.

Can I, or ask someone in USA to access the Arizona DMV database and look up the previous owners? Don´t know if that is an option in Arizona but it can be done here in Iceland. :bigthumbsup

You have to pay for it and have a usa drivers license number. The short answer is give up while your ahead and that link only covers the state of az no other states. And if the car didn't get tagged for a long time it won't be in there system at all.
