I just purchased a 2002 Mustang and it came with HID bulbs with the little fans attached. I wanted to go back to conventional bulbs and when I tried to reattach the black plastic headlamp bulb retainers to secure the bulbs in, nost of the little clips were broken off to hold it in place. I have not been able to find ant replacements or anything compatible. Has anyone found a source for these?

I was hoping to get new as those parts get brittle, but it's definitely an option. There is a yard near me with lots of Mustangs

The Motorcraft part # WPT1247 is black and comes with crimps and heat shrinks while all the other brands are blue and come without them:

The Fox body Mustangs used a cylinder with grooves on the outside to hold and lock the connector onto the headlight housing. Can you post a pic?

Google "Dorman 42111" or just go to Late Model Restoration and look under 1994-2004 Mustang Headlights, and you'll find them ($19.99/pair).

The model of car doesn't have anything to do with the retainer ring (as far as I'm aware); that Dorman 42111 part is a 9007 bulb retaining ring, and looks exactly like what my 2002 Mustang headlamps use.

I'm not sure how you got to what you posted here from LMR, but this is what you want (according to LMR, the 87-93 Mustangs use a different headlamp bulb, a 9004):

It seems that we're both wrong. The ones that you posted are for 1999-04 and the ones that I posted are for 1987-93. The right ones for 1994-98 are these: Mustang Headlight Bulb Retainers (94-98) SN95 - LMR

The model and years do matter though. The bulb harness connectors and/or light housings are different between generations and models even if using the same bulb.
