I need help with fireing order on my 89 lx 5.0 HO. The motor is set on TDC, balancer is on 0 and the rotor points at the #1 plug in the block. On my cap the #1 is marked on the top. How do I set up my wires. I have it set but it won't fire. I thought I had it set right but I guess I don't

This picture is pretty cheesy. It's the best I could find on the web. I compared it to my Mustang manual. It is accurate. The photo represents the order in which to configure your plug wires. Also your distributor rotation is counter clockwise.

The firing order of your car should be 1-5-4-2-6-3-7-8

Sorry..forgot the attachment.

Actually it's 1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8. And go by the #1 that's right beside a post tower on the cap, not pointing it toward the #1 cylinder.

EagleAutosports is right on this one. I intially looked at the Chilton's Manual for 87-93 Ford Mustang (#26606).

Section 2-8 listed firing order 1-5-4-2-6-3-7-8,

Section 2-38 listed 1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8.

I'm not sure why the discrepancy. My mistake for not verifying further.:so
yeah, all 5.0 HO motors use firing order 1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8. old 302's use the other firing order
