I just had both of my front lower control arms and respective bushings changed out under warranty. I also had to get new sway bar end links.

For those of you that have gone through this already, have any of you had the problem re-occur?

I want to start changing the suspension with new springs and sway bars and strut mounts from steeda but if the fix from ford is a band aid solution and it'll come back i want to wait until the warranty is up on my car so they can't blame my mods when it comes in again.

BTW her name is Selene

I am in the same boat as you, my 13 GT had both lower control arms replaced, so far no new noises (after 1500 miles). Because of this I am holding off on any suspension mods until I am sure the problem does not reoccur.

I have the same problem on my '13 GT and I have had my LCAs and bushings replaced twice so far (latest being the "C" series or 3rd revised LCAs) and the sound is coming back again...

Anyone from Steeda care to comment if you guys are working on a quality aftermarket solution to this since Ford apparently can't get its act together???

This is definitely shameful performance from ford, these are second and third year vehicles with low mileage... I don't know about others but i specifically waited till 2012 to avoid first year production issues.

I had both front lower control arms replaced under warranty...when I got the car back, it still made the same "scrunchy" sound I complained about when you go over a speed bump...I even looked under the car to make sure the parts were actually switched out...and they were...so I just accepted it as normal since the parts were brand new.

Quick question here, how long does it take them to do the swap? My 2013 has developed a front squeak that can be felt through the floor boards.
If you are experiencing any concern with your vehicle, you should make an appointment with your dealer and have your vehicle diagnosed. After you make the appointment, PM me with your VIN, dealer, mileage, and contact info so I can escalate this for you and help get it resolved.

I’ll get back to you soon, MATTYHOU.

Upgrading your suspension is one of the most satisfying mods you can do. Increased grip is a benefit in a straight line, cornering, or any way you drive your car.

I'd upgrade the suspension and forget about the LCA bushing warranty. (This is not just me armchair quarterbacking. This is what I've done on my own Mustang)

Worst case scenario, there are REALLY NICE front control arm ball joint and bushing upgrades available on the market. They are much better for performance than the Ford pieces.

Of course, when it comes to suspension, I recommend UPR Products. :bigthumbsup

Hey Sharad, what's the word on the aftermarket control arm failures? I recall hearing it from multiple vendors and individuals about cracks forming at welding points as well as the bend in the "L" shape. They(can't remember each vendor) were telling people to just upgrade the bushings and maybe the ball joints in the stock control arms for now while the entire control arms got redesigned.

I don't want to smear any vendors. You never know the whole story behind failures you see on the internet. But the info about this is on S197forum.

There is also a post about this in the Talk section...I posted some info from there. Jared from Whiteline let me quote an email string we had about the bushings.

No sense in taking it to the dealer to put the same part back in again. You have to admit you have a pretty sound car if the only thing your taking it in for is squeaking lol.

As for LCAs, just keep in mind what your application is. Most of the aftermarket LCAs out there are for straight liners. There are additional forces involved when you carve corners.

We just had both lower front control arms/bushings replaced under warranty in our 2014 GT. The car only has 3k miles on it! It made a fairly loud metallic clunk when going over rough road patches and speed bumps. Problem is solved for now.
