Im looking to buy a newer mach 1. I was at the dealership looking at an 03. Does the chrome shift knob come stock on the 03 or is that just the 04. Cause the one I was looking at has the same shift knob and headlight knob and a couple other things missing that I thought came stock on the mach1. Are they only on the 04? Also the engine was making a ticking noise that was only noticeable with the hood poped. Does anyone else have this problem. The engine only had 18k on it.

On a side note the salesman told me it had 350 horespower and that all the chrome stuff was put on aftermarket by them. I started laughing and told him it had 305 horsepower and all that stuff was stock. I could see a part of the supposed new pedal that had a tear in the back. I would have considerd buying it if the ticking noise wasnt there. He also told me that it was owned by an older couple that never thrased it which is also probabley BS.

I think they had 320 horse. The ticking you heard could have just been the injectors, they do make a similar noise. The Mach 1 has a billet aluminum shift knob, not chrome. Oops I just check this site out:www.mach1registry.com and saw they do have 305 horse. This site should give you all the info you need. BTW what color is it? My fav Mach 1 is the Competion Orange 04... :worship

The ticking noise is a problem and is covered under warranty. Ford had a recall on the heads of the Mach 1 because of the ticking noise. No changes were made between the 03 and 04 models. The car is rated at 305 hp and, if I'm not mistaken, 320 lb/ft of torque. The 305 is pretty accurate but the engine makes closer to 350 lb/ft at the flywheel.

I hate car salesmen. They are the scum of the earth.
