MAF Conversion Problem

I have an 88 5.0 that I did a MAF conversion. I followed the instructions on corral.net and stangnet.com to a T. I've double and triple checked the wiring and its correct. I'm using an A9L computer and when I try to start it it will turn over hit about 1500 rpm and then die. If I unplug the MAF sensor it will start up idle at 1200 - 1500 for 2-3 seconds and then jumps up to 2000-2500 rpm and stay there. Giving it gas just bogs it and or kills it. I've tried getting the error codes from the STO STI but it gives me a constant five volts. I'm not sure what that means. I have two A9L computers and they both give me the exact problem for everything.
*edit* I finally got some error codes I'll start to track those down but any info you have would be great*
