MAF/injectors question

685 Views 5 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  sledneck1204
im just wondering if you can run a bigger MAF sensor with stock injectors and throttle body? and if you can, will it accomplish anything?.... i want to finish and drive my car before summer is over, but im probably not going to have money for injectors and throttle body right away so im hoping to use stock ones for now... the engine is a completely rebuilt 302, stock bottem end (balanced though), decent cam (530 lift), edelbrock performer rpm heads, professional products intake, etc. i can give more detail if needed. so can i run stock injectors and throttle body with an aftermarket MAF, or will it hurt the engine? thanks

If you have a 70mm aftermarket maf, and it bottlenecks down to a stock 58mm throttlebody, what's the point right? The stock throttle body is the biggest restriction with the combo you are running right now. To get the most from those heads, cam, & intake, you might want to consider getting those injectors, maf and t/b asap! I know you're itching to get the car on the road, but it's always better to do the job right the first time.

You need a sensor calibrated for the 19lb stock injectors. If your 70mm maf is for 19lbs you should be fine but your wasting your money if your keeping a stock tb on it, just like white elephant said, why go to 70mm if your coming back down to stock then going back to whatever the opening is on your upper. If your getting the 70 mm maf, get a 70mm tb also

Get a used C&L or Pro M meter with inj included off craigslist or ebay then get a 75mm tb the same way.
It would work, you just wouldn't get much improvement from it because the air inlet system is only as good as the smallest component. Pair a large aftermarket meter with a stock straw for a throttle body, it's only going to pull in what the stock TB will allow.

As for the injectors, that'll depend on the total combination to see if you'd be beyond their capability.

i know someone with a brand new bbk 70mm throttle body that i can get for a good price so i guess i'll get that from him. and i will get the MAF that i need too, and i guess the injectors if i need them too (i agree with white elephant, better to do it right the first time)... but what is it i hear everyone is using adjustable fuel pressure regulators with stock injectors? would that work for me, or would i be better off to just get new injectors with the tb and MAF? thanks again for the help
