I had some of these die cut from a black matte vinyl coated magnet because I wanted a Blackout kit but when I looked at the 3D one it was $150.00 and I had to have it painted and also it was attached with double stick tape to the paint which I did not like. The other one was attached like tint so I had to install it right and if it got scratched I had to pull it off and start all over again. These Magnets go on in seconds and add that "depth" look. And if it gets scratched you can use a vinyl wax and it will take most of it off. Also for $30 I could also buy another. And if your worried about someone taking it, they can rip off the one that is attached with tape just as easy, and someone would have to be in the market for an 05/06 Blackout to steal. I also like that I can take it off and wash/wax behind it. Just to let you guys know I am not a business man, nor do I own any stores. I am a Professional Firefighter, and a Carpenter for 18+ yrs. who loves Mustangs. I had 6 of them and currently own a stock 1993 Cobra with 10,000k on it and a 2006 Vista Blue in the pictures. I had this made for myself so at the time the money spent I figured I could make a couple of bucks and bring a decent little mod to the Mustangers. I had made a Carbon Fiber one. Pics below.

Just a heads up........ being magnetic means 1. they will collect dirt behind the mat, and 2. they have lead in them. which means they will rust against the body.

Original idea though

Magnetic rear black-out panel

They look really nice, especially the vinyl. I would be concerned about the rust factor. is there someway that the magnet could be coated to lessen the chance of rust?

These are the same magnets that I have been running on my trucks for years with no problems. If you had the one that is stuck with double sided tape the dirt gets trapped behind there and your not going to take that off. The one good thing about this is you can take it off when you wash the car and after it rains. I do have the regular ones made from Carbon Fiber coming in a couple days. The ones you apply with water.

Magnetic Blackout

Nyyankee can you forward me the info on the blackout strip, price, etc. I'm in for one if reasonable. I work with several 05 and 06 owners and I'll pass the info to them. Thanks

Has anyone with the magnetic rear blackout panel had any problems with rust or paint damage? Just ordered one and I don't wanna put it on if there's going to be problems down the road.

I have had a magnetic rear blackout panel for a while now and it is great. Really easy to quickly take off if you are going to wash the car, and very easy to put on. You should go ahead and put it on.:bigthumbsup

I've had mine for a few weeks. I love the way it looks and now it just looks "wrong" when it's not installed. I don't like worrying about water & dirt getting behind it or that it might be stolen. I'm getting rid of my spoiler soon and plan to have back painted black at the same time. I'd like the blackout to line up with the top of the taillights instead of being 1/4" lower anyway.

Uh, the last post in this thread before yours was almost a year ago. :eek:hknow
Yeah, but we weren't here then and other new people join all the time. ;)

Thats fine. My point wasn't that he bumped an old thread, it was that he was suggesting something to someone who likely would've purchased the item in question A YEAR AGO. Either way, not a big deal. Just making an observation. :wavey
