2006 V6 Mustang. Map Lights above Rear View will not turn off. Just replaced battery. Has anyone successfully resolved this issue? Current workaround is removing the bulbs. But would like to know how to troubleshoot this issue. Thanks.

welcome to the V6 tech forum. i dont think ive seen that problem on here yet. i would think it has to be the smart juntion box telling it the door is open, or the door unlock circuit turns them on too.( but should go out after a minute, or if you lock the car with the remote) or... maybe a door switch. i think someone said its in the latch on the door. just throwing ideas at ya :)

Does your radio shut off when you open the door? If it does, that should rule out the door switch.
Check the SJB in the pass side kick panel and make sure it isn't damp in there. Could also be a flaky connection in there with one of the connectors.

If the dimmer switch is all the way up then that is your problem. Turn it down about an eighth of a click. You will feel a click, this turns off your inside lights:happyhapp

good call silver. i forgot the first rule, its usually the simplest thing :bigthumbsup
yup! :bigthumbsup i learned that the hard way when i thought my alternator was going on my 85.

"WHY THE HELL ARE MY INTERIOR LIGHTS DIMMING!?!?!" i thought it was my alternator, and i almost bought a new one, until i realised  my light knob was turned all the way down!

i just tested it, if you have the light wheel turned all the way up so it clicks and the lights turn on, even if you lock the doors they stay on as well.

go outside and roll that wheel down until it clicks, then shut the door and hit lock twice, should clear that right up

That did it, Thanks Silverbullit07

I guess the battery swap had me overthinking it. But your solution was spot on--turn the dimmer down from full on. Sometimes it takes a genius to point out the perfectly obvious. Thanks, dude!

I thought i had this problem too, it's the little light wheel thingy that's near where you turn on your actual headlights right to the left of the steering wheel. It like dims or brightens your lights inside of your car. If it is turned all the way, your map lights stay on
