I was wondering if K&N filter oil could gum up your MAF if too much is used..and if so, what is the best thing to use to clean the delicate filament inside with. I'm afraid to spray brake cleaner or TB cleaner in there incase it might do some dammage. Any thoughts?

The MAF has regular phillips head screws in place of the tx security ones that are on it originally so I'm guessing someone might have been tampering with it. However I have no real issues to resolve here just a housekeeping item more or less. :bigthumbsup

Excess filter oil will grime up your MAF sensor. I think that once that happens it needs to be replaced.

Excess oil can and will gum up your element and it needs to be cleaned. That's a common problem with those who reoil their filters.
The best thing to use is actual MAF cleaner, an alternative would be brake cleaner.

No need to replace the MAF sensor if it's gummed up......


The last time I compared labels on Brake Cleaner and the very special/expensive MAF cleaner.... they were exactly the same chemical......

I ONLY use brake cleaner on my MAF.
On a Fox Mustang, it won't cause problems....
