i have a 87 4 banger converted 5.0 and the mass airflow sensor is there but no connector whats the purpose of this and do i really need it also if i need the connector dose anyone have any ideas to help me eith this problem.

If there's no connector, then it's a speed density computer in there. If you want to run mass air, then yeah it needs the connector. If you want to run speed density, then no you don't and you don't need the mass air meter either. But if the engine is or will be modified, then you need the mass air which means you need to swap the computer and harness to mass air.

ebay you can get the ECU depending on auto or manual or auto for about 100 bucks and the harness for about the same

Before you BUY anything, it is always a good idea to verify what you currently have.
No telling what the previous owner may have hodgepodged together....

Pull the kickpanel on the passenger side and verify the ecu 'catch code'
S/B A9L, A9P, X3Z, A3M, A3M1, etc for MAF ecu's... not sure

What is the part number on the MAF sensor?
What is the ID of the housing?
Can you snag a pic of it????
