Microcomputer Control Unit???

I'm in the middle of taking a 5.8 HO engine carburated out of a 85 crown vic (old cop car) to put in my stang. On the drivers fender is a little box with a bundle of wires going to it and it is called a Microcomputer Control Unit. Does anybody Know what this is? I'm going to guess for the tranny? If it is for any kind of emissions then I will delete it cause I will not run emissions [email protected]%T.

The MCU controls engine air/fuel ratios, air injection and on some models, canister purge spark retard and idle speed. The MCU system is similar in many respects to the eec system's. The major difference is that the mca system does not completely control the ignition timing.....1985+ the MCU was only available on 5.8L cars with the optional police package or on canadian produced crown vic's........

hope that helps bro........
