motor in few questions

so i just dropped in my 1966 289 into my 76 II. I'm having a few questions. I switch from a 4 speed to a manual reverse C4. Are the cross members the same? The tranny is out of a 1982 full size according to the vin RF-E2AP-7006-AA. The neutral safety switch wasn't on when i got the tranny . I have one but i'm not sure on the shifter lever NSS position. Does the lever face up or down? So here is a pic of my shifter lever and NSS. Is the lever the wrong one? It doesn't seem to fit on the shaft with the NSS in place .





Is there also a different size fitting for the tranny lines. The fittings i have are to small?
