so i got new motor mounts in my '98 cobra with a MMR 900 5.4 4 valve. the hood has already been cut to clear air intake, but it seems like these stock replacement mounts may be 1/8"- 1/4" taller and now the motor sits higher not allowing hood to close. its hitting right below the snorkle and cant cut any more of the hood. is there any mounts that anybody could recommend? ive already talked to a few dif shops here in socal including MMR. best solution they said is to get cowl hood, which i just dont want to do that. thanx in advance

It's probably due to the mounts being new and needing to get some movement with weight on them then they will settle some

I think convertible mounts may be a bit lower

is this a complely stock 5.4?

i came across a thread with a guy putting a 5.4 in..he had a different intake that lowered top to keep hood untouched..

urithane mounts are about 1/8- 1/4" lower than stock.the last ones i got were prothane brand

Not really stock. They took stock intake upper and lower cut down center and widened by about 1 1/2". Which is right where I'm hitting the hood. But there is a lil more I'm gonna cut off the hood and hope its enough. Guy do u remember where u purchased those mounts?

you can find mounts quite easily at speed shops, Ebay, Jegs, Summitt etc...around $150 for "good ones"

Thanx everybody. Seems like after a spirited drive last night and the extra notching under the hood paid off. I will b getting some of those urethane mounts when I do the Kmember. On another note, seems like my oil leak was coming from the oil cooler to block gasket.
