Hello All,
I had to write this as we are excited and happy.

Last night we cruised to a meet/show and won
"people's choice". We were both blown away because there
were many GREAT cars in attendance. I guess it was just our night.

I had been thinking about the shows and trophies and all that and I came
to the realization that the trophies are NOT what really matters.

When we go to the shows - -we talk to so many people and have made friends
with a lot of people. When we walk around - people are friendly and we are
starting to know a lot of them.

Looking at things - -I guess the trophy is just going to collect dust (if I let go of it:laughlitt) but what is really important is the friendships and laughs we have.

Do NOT get me wrong - -to win is GREAT - - it is kinda like a sign people
recognize your work.
This show was just a people's choice event and not an accurately judged show.
Many years ago we won a 3rd place in our category. This was the result of decent scores in all areas of the car. Nothing was too good but nothing was too bad either.

So I just wanted to let people here know that we are excited and energized BUT I will put this all into perspective after the week-end.

Lastly - -I think the trophy is about 10 inches tall - -BUt my head had a hard time fitting into the door.:grinroll:

To others that attend shows and seem to never win anything - -DON"T despair - -you day will come. Hang in there and be PROUD of what you drive and work on.
What is really important is the "journey" we take when we start working on these classics.

Be well - - work safe - -a happy Print Drizzle

Am I the first to say CONGRATULATIONS !!!!! (only if I type fast). Way to go, with the effort you put in to helping others, the peoples choice award is so appropriate.

Congratulations P jizzle, I am very happy for you. If I was a puppy I probably would have peed on the floor. I'm not a puppy and I still peed on the floor. You deserved this more than anybody else there. You have every right to be proud of that thing!

First, I want to give you a congrats on "getting" what this hobby is (or what I think it should be) about.

The sharing of good memories and smiles when your out at a show or driving. Like alot of you on this forum, how cool is it to see someone give you a smile when they see your car?

I love ligthing up someones face with something as simple as an old car- and how people just open up and get friendly when they are at shows and want to chat with someone who has an old car-

That to me is the payoff of this hobby for me-and Print Dad, sounds like your in that arena too.

I had never won anything at many shows that I have been too, until last weekend at the All Ford Nationals in Carlisle PA. It was a surprise that someone appreciated the beauty of what I think I have put together. Made those hours and hours just a little bit more satisfying.

The memories and friends I have met in this hobby, in person at shows and some really nice people on this board, all the reason to be thankful.

Congrats again on your day- I know it is another reason to smile.

Hello All,
I thank you all for the kinds words. It is GREAT to hear from
many of the people I admire here on this forum.

A special Note to LIZER - - When I showed your response to Mr.s P
we both almost fell on the floor laughing.
I am really thinking you are NUTS - -But I mean that in a GREAT way.

It is a great feeling to win something BUT lately it has been a lot of
fun to drive. I m not sure why but lately people have been pulling
up next to us and giving great comments on the car or asking what year it is etc.

It does make you feel proud. - - I still stand by my thinking and realize
we have a GREAT hobby and the people we meet are from all walks
of life. There are doctors, mechanics, custodians etc etc.
It is just nice to be able to talk about the cars and where we gets parts etc.

My head has now shrunk back to normal size - - and I am ready to jump
back into the forums with both feet running.

Thanks all - - I am glad I am a member of such a GREAT forum

P Snazzle or dazzle or Drizzle -- Keep smiling all:worship

Agree with Cindys - people's choice is the best award. It means your fellow mustangers appreciate all the hard work you put into your car - and they are the ones that really know! A big congratulations!

Good job to Mr & Mrs Print Dad.

I was at a local car show yesterday (Friday night) talking to people and explaining things to them...what year it was & how to tell them apart. One lady said a family member had a '67 JUST LIKE mine. I had to tell her Well, its close but '67s are wider & longer and totally different cars.

By far, the funnest part is talking to the people that came out just to look at all the old classics cars and trucks.

One guy (or family) built a ride...Its a drivable "Radio-Flyer Wagon" Just like the ones you pulled your kids around in when they were young. But its street legal & full sized. (including the handle) I didn't get a pic. Next time its being shown, (prob in August) i will get a pic of it & post it here. Talk about getting alot of stares at your ride!

Hello Paul my friend,
This trophy came at a great time for me - BUT - -

I really understand that it is about the people and the fun.
I must admit, I am content and feel complete on the car.

Loads of work must be done for the car to be in the shape I would
like BUT for this year - -I am content.

When I take the car to a show or meet one of my best times
comes from letting little kids sit in the car and play with the
steering wheel while their parents take pictures.
If the car were perfect I may be afraid to let kids enjoy the
feeling. I hope I NEVER loose sight of what this hobby is all about.

That is people helping each other, learning from mistakes, finding out
what seem to work and not work and of course where to find
parts etc.

So the trophy thing is out of my system - -I will of course continue
to attend events BUt driving in a caravan of 15-20 cars and just
having people smile or wave is all the reward I need.

I hope others understand - -we work on our cars and sure once in awhile
it is nice to hear some kind words or perhaps even get a trophy.
Years from now - -the trophy will be in the attic but the memories of the
kids and people will be in my heart forever.

Be well and Thanks for all the help in the past/future.

Thanks for the kind words.

I am glad you also wona trophy as I know you had
man hurldes to overcome in the past. I have never
seen a sign of quitting from you and I am glad that
you are enjoying the car.

Winning a trophy is cool - -but all the friendships

Hello Cuddy
Thanks for the kind words. I hope you are well.

Last night we almost got a different award.
Got pulled over for speeding - - got a written warning.

The cop pulled us over and said we were going 40
around a corner. When he pulled me over he asked if I
knew why he stopped us. I told him I had NO idea.

Even Mrs. P siad no way we were goign that fast.
He wrote us up and said we were going 42 in a posted
30. I drove back after and it is NOT posted and there is no
way I was going 40.

I was gonna go to the station and fight it BUt not sure
if that would cause more troubles in the future.

Damn -

Print Dad
