So like the title says I noticed last week while driving that when I let of the clutch at around 20mph the shifter moves slightly like it wants to pop out of gear. It hasn't actually popped out yet and it isn't moving more than a centimeter but it is still very noticeable on the hand whenever the clutch is being disengaged. It also happens when I accelerate, it moves forward and stays there until I let off and then it moves back to "where it should be" I guess is a way to put it. I haven't gotten any grinding or 2nd gear lock out and I get no movement in any of the other gears. I already made an appointment at the dealership to have it looked at on Wednesday but I wanted to get some feedback from you guys and see if anyone else has experienced this or knows what the root of the problem might be.

I know that I'm have mods and such, the biggest being the boss intake manifold but the boss 302 uses the same transmission as the 5.0s and I think the roush stage 3's do as well so I don't think I'm pushing more power than the tranny can handle, especially since there are people running blowers with this trans. The only mods on the drivetrain are the Barton shifter and the whiteline mount but I don't see those causing the issue or if ford will try and blame those for the issue.

I've had something similar, first it felt like 3rd gear was doing that. Then recently it happened in 2nd. Only did it once, in 2nd. Also only happened when driving it hard. "normal" driving is fine...

It's possible that it's been there but it seems super noticeable now so I don't know if it's just my paranoia about the tranny. The reason I'm concerned about it is that its a persistent thing and it doesn't stop, which could lend to the fact that it isn't an issue. I guess ill just wait and see what the ford tech says.

I got the blow fish bracket in the mail today which I'll install friday, I kinda hope it will fix the problem but it will be hard to say. I'm positive that I'm not just noticing the issue I haven't done any modding for about a month and that was just control arms. I drive the same route to work everyday and experience similar driving conditions each time so if this had been there all along I would have noticed it by now. I had a friend ride with me and place his hand on the shifter and he felt the same thing that I did. If it turns out its just a quirk of the tranny thats fine but it just doesn't feel normal, I'm just paranoid that it's foreshadowing a failure in the mt-82 and in that case I would rather look into a minor now then a major one later.

The engagement teeth on the synchronizer and the 2nd gear are fairly small. There is not much room for the sleeve to engage the gear so once its worn some or bust some teeth off of it, it will begin to pop out of 2nd gear more frequently.

Well the dealer looked at it and said there are no issues with it and that the movement is attributed to the rear mount flexing but told me if second pops out of gear to bring in back. I'll be installing the blow fish bracket tomorrow so if it doesn't get better ill know the issue is something else or an internal issue.
